Do you want to further geographical knowledge and understanding through education?

The GA is a registered charity and it receives no direct financial government support. We work hard in pursuit of our charitable mission, to further geographical knowledge and understanding through education, but we could always do with some extra help.

A donation or bequest to the GA will help us to support teachers of geography in the classroom. Your generosity could be used to directly support our charitable activities, such as the GA annual Public Lecture, GA International Initiatives Fund or bursaries for new teachers.

Make a donation

You can make an online donation to the GA via the Charity Choice website or by sending your payment direct to the GA. The GA's registered charity number is ‘1135148’.

The GA's membership subscription income is returned in the form of services, but additional donations enable us to expand our range of activities and extend our services even further. As a registered charity the GA may be eligible for Gift Aided donations; donations straight from your wages or pension may also be eligible for tax relief. Contact HMRC or visit for more information or contact Richard Gill at, with any enquiries regarding donations to the GA.

Leave a legacy or bequest

Leaving a charitable gift to the GA in your will is a wonderful way to pass on your love of geography to future generations, by ensuring that the subject you have enjoyed will enrich the lives of young people in years to come. Generous legacies and bequests have in the past enabled the GA to develop new open-access areas of our website, enrich the programme at annual Conference, run annual overseas study tours and provide meeting facilities at our headquarters.

Go to the Free wills website (a scheme which can provide free wills for straightforward affairs) or contact Richard Gill with enquiries regarding legacies and bequests.
