11 October 2006

It is a fine day to be a geographer! The heavens have opened and there are flash floods all around. The cover of the Independent today has some great stats about how the US is eating up the world. Yesterday the news was full of stories of the North/South obesity divide. Climate change is on everyone's agenda. And to top it all, I have got a new tablet PC. How happy am I?

I'm going to totally ignore the debate of how much energy my new baby uses, and just think about how much paper I won't be using.
Clare Brooks, GA Honorary Website Editor

I'm going to ignore the fact that I am still homeless and waiting for solicitors to argue the toss about this clause or that clause on my new flat, and fantasise about being totally mobile. Shall I work at my desk today? Or in the library? Hey, I don't even need a desk! Watch me working in the cinema! On the bus! In a café! I am becoming a footloose industry!

Of course, this is all fantasy - it's going to take five days for the techies to install Office onto it! And it's not very productive to teach from a café - and not likely to make me very popular trying to do it from the cinema either! And it's raining, so I might even stay in my office anyway!!
