Designed to help primary teachers to select and explore ways of using stories from a variety of sources, and to develop children's geographical understanding through 'a sense of place', Place in story-time draws upon a selection of both familiar and perhaps more unusual stories in its suggestions for cross-curricular and practical work in the classroom.

It also demonstrates how such stories can meet the National Curriculum requirements.

'Stories from whatever source provide an exciting start for geographical activities… why and how with examples' - Reviewed in GeogScot, September 1995

A classic resource for student teachers! The selection of story books and ideas to use them geographically is great. Ideas relating from one book here can also be transferred to other books - to help new teachers can see the geographical potential in all sorts of stories!
