Flooding in Asia - 2 August

Recent flooding in the UK has been mild compared to the catastrophic events currently taking place in South Asia. Widespread flooding has occured in India, Bangladesh and Nepal, killing 250 people and leaving almost 20 million displaced. From a geographical perspective, the effects of the flooding in Asia provide an interesting comparison with our experiences in England.

25 June Floods

The Geographical Association is based in Sheffield, one of the places worst affected by the flooding of 25 June, with the Rivers Don and Sheaf breaching their banks in many locations. It seemed appropriate therefore to provide a selection of links to news articles, photographs, flooding information and teaching resources.

GA staff would also like to thank everyone who has contacted us to check that we're ok! Aside from a few problems getting to work and back, we're all safe and well.
