Where will I live? - Resources

project display

We would like to encourage you to use the schemes and resources shared in these project pages as a stimulus to support you in creating your own curriculum sequences that explore the question 'Where Will I Live?'. To make it easier for you to find appropriate resources we have arranged them into five categories:

1. East Lancashire Schools
2. South Cambridge Schools
3. Key Stage
4. Place Studies
5. Key Concepts and Big Ideas

Other Resources: CABE

There a number of additional resources which you may find useful:

Together CABE and the GA developed a booklet which provides a useful introduction to the project. The booklet was distributed to all secondary schools during Autumn 2006.

CABE offer a variety of excellent materials. All CABE education resources are available free of charge and can be found on their website. All resources identify curriculum links, learning objectives and contain suggestions for interactive activities. To order any of these publications, call CABE on 0207 070 6700 or email education@cabe.org.uk.

CABE resources you may find particularly useful include:

Neighbourhood Journeys - making the ordinary extraordinary
This resource uses the local built environment as a context for learning in and around the school with Key Stage 2 pupils.

Living Futures: My home

360° Magazine

Getting out there: geography and citizenship local safari guide

CABE’s Award Winning 360° Magazine is published regularly and provides a host of updates, creative ideas and resources.

How Places Work was launched by CABE in 2006. This is a programme which enables thousands of young people to visit buildings and spaces in their local areas.

Other Resources: Various

Making Better Places analyses the design and structure of places. The materials were developed by the Joint Centre for Urban Design (JCUD) at Oxford Brookes University and supported by CABE.

The Teachers TV Programme 'Location Matters' features the Where Will I Live project and shares the work of David Beresford, AST and local project leaders. David works at Coleridge Community School, which is part of the Parkside Federation (Cambridge).

Laying the Foundations

The DCMS/DfES booklet, Laying the Foundations; Using the Built Environment to teach features the Where Will I Live project, alongside other creative curriculum projects.

Following the success of Where Will I Live, the GA worked with the Academy for Sustainable Communities to develop the 'Building Sustainable Communities' project.

The Architecture Centre Network co-ordinates, supports and advances the work of architecture and related built environment centres.
