Going for Gold (14-16)

By Grant Kleeman

Gold medals

In this activity we focus on global inequalities in sporting achievement as measured by the tally at successive Summer Olympic Games - Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, and now, Beijing 2008. In doing so we have an opportunity to develop our understanding of global inequalities and practice a range of geographical skills including: the interpretation of column and line graphs, choropleth maps, proportional circle graphs, pie graphs and semi-logarithmic graphs.
