Furthering the learning and teaching of geography

Pilot GCSE: Examinations

During 2003-04, 18 Centres embarked on the OCR Pilot GCSE Geography. Candidates sat an examination and submitted coursework on Extreme Environments, My Place - Living in the UK today and People as Consumers.

It is pleasing that the coursework moderator was able to state:

'It is a credit to all those involved, both staff and candidates, that this report is able to identify some excellent practice and provide some positive feedback for future cohorts'.

Download a copy of his full report, plus the Chief Examiner's feedback on both Foundation and Higher tier papers using the links below. You may also find the coursework moderator's summary presentation useful.

The Chief Examiner states 'Overall, the higher tier paper was a successful start to examining candidates of greater and lesser ability. There were many pleasing marks, often where Centres had prepared their candidates well using the resource booklet'.
