Understanding the Local Area - About the School
About St Peter's Smithills Dean CE Primary School
St Peter's Smithills Dean CE Primary School is a Church of England voluntary aided co-educational school for 4 to 11 year-old children in the parish of St Peter's Halliwell outside Bolton, a Lancashire 'cotton mill' town.
St Peter's is a suburban school at the foot of the wild West Pennine Moors. The majority of children are of White British heritage and around 7% are from several other ethnic backgrounds. Most live locally in owner-occupied housing. The number of children eligible for free school meals is extremely low.
This project was done with both Years 3 and 5.
