Furthering the learning and teaching of geography

E-scape: Digital Fieldwork

fieldwork with PDAs

The e-scape trials in geography involved combining controlled assessment in the classroom with a field visit as part of an enquiry into the rebranding of the seaside resort of Porthcawl. Students were able to use PDAs both for their in-class work and during their field visit. Some GIS work using ArcPad was undertaken during the visits.

This document gives a position statement from the GA in relation to fieldwork and enquiry, including ideas on levels of control in controlled assessments.
