September 19 is International Talk Like A Pirate Day and here at GA HQ we've had fun dressing up for a good cause. We organised a treasure map (using Barnaby Bear's World Map) and charged a pound a square - the winner received booty from the treasure chest while the money raised will be donated to Marie Curie Cancer Care.
You could use pirates in your geography lessons easily - National Geographic have produced some pirate themed lesson plans aimed at KS2/3: Pirate Map; Pirate Archaeology and A Pirate's Life.
