Congratulations to a team of geography students from the University of Plymouth who recently won the Yomping the Nation 2007 competition. The Geographical Association recently contributed to part of the QCA Futures Project which asked for '1000 words to shape the future'. More than 50 organisations gave their 1000 words and the results have been summarised in a leaflet which is available to download from the QCA Futures website. (Added 27.03.07)
March seems to be the month for climate change! Here are a few bits of information you might find interesting:
Climate Challenge is a new game about climate change which can be played for free on the BBC website. You take on the role of President of the European Nations, making policy decisions about climate change whilst at the same time trying to remain popular with the voters. Play the game on the BBC Science & Nature site.
A date has now been set by the DfES for sending schools their free copy of An Inconvenient Truth - look out for the DVD arriving in your school from the week beginning 16 April. Find out more about the film and how you can use it in the classroom on our An Inconvenient Truth Theme page.
Tomorrow's Climate Today's Challenge is Defra's climate change teaching pack sent out free to all schools in England. You can download the booklet and view additional films and other resources on the Teachernet Sustainable Schools Resource Library at www.teachernet.gov.uk

The BBC's online education service, BBC Jam was suspended on Tuesday 20 March 2007. The BBC Trust has requested BBC management to prepare fresh proposals for how the BBC should deliver the Charter obligation to promote formal education and learning, meeting the online needs of school age children. Now into its seventh year, the Geographical Young Geographer of the Year competition aims to inspire and encourage the next generation of geographers, travellers and explorers. Young geographers are invited to answer this year's question 'Can recycling save the world?' in the form of an article or magazine cover.
