Volunteers wanted for Old Weather project

Help scientists recover worldwide weather observations made by Royal Navy ships around the time of World War I. These transcriptions will contribute to climate model projections and improve a database of weather extremes, while historians will use your work to track past ship movements and the stories of the people on board. Closure of the GTT website

Following the ending of Action Plan for Geography funding in April 2011, the Geography Teaching Today website closed from the end of November 2011. Many APG-funded materials are already available on the GA and RGS-IBG websites and other GTT content will be migrated in due course. This new map by National Geographic and Esri is designed to be used as a general reference map for informational and educational purposes. It can also be used as a basemap by GIS professionals and other users for creating web maps and web mapping applications. (16.12.11)

In the run up to the Rio+20 Earth Summit in June 2012, The Living Rainforest has launched an international essay competition which asks primary and secondary students how they think world leaders could build a more sustainable future.
