Venue and location

The 2013 GTE Conference takes place from Friday 25 to Sunday 27 January at the 4* Hallmark Hotel, North Ferriby, in the East Riding of Yorkshire. The hotel is on the bank of the Humber Estuary, next to the Humber Bridge, and lies five miles to the west of Hull.

The hotel is easily accessible by road (M62/A63), rail (Hull Interchange or Ferriby railway stations) and air (Humberside Airport is 16 miles to the south).

Accommodation

Overnight bed and breakfast accommodation is readily available at the hotel which boasts 95 bedrooms, so the conference is very much self-contained. Many of the rooms offer stunning views of the Humber Bridge and estuary. Check-in is from 2pm and check out is before 11am.

I was expecting to have the option to have an invoice sent to my Finance Dept instead I had to pay straightaway on my card, which I will now have to claim back. Apologies if I missed this option but if this option doesn't exist, I think it needs to!

Dear Mel

The GTE conference is not a GA-organised event and our involvement is only at the request of the GTE conference organiser.

Traditionally the organiser’s own institution has provided the financial and admin support for their event but for the last couple of year’s for various reasons this has proved too problematical and the GA has been asked to step in to provide a simple mechanism for delegates to book and pay for their GTE conference attendance and to contract with (and ultimately pay) the event venue.

The delegate fees for the GTE conference are set by the organiser on the basis of covering the venue costs i.e. the GA does not expect to make any surplus from its involvement with its support of the event.

Credit terms have not been offered (by agreement with the organiser) for GTE conference bookings as this would significantly adds to the GA’s own costs in terms of issuing invoices and chasing up payments.

Thanks
Lucy Oxley
