Indiana University - provides a straightforward source of additional information about Jerome Bruner’s work.

Explore North - gives further information and pictures of Surtsey, including the Icelandic stamp set printed to celebrate the new island.

Tidec - the website for Teachers in Development Education. It contains information about a large range of primary materials produced or marketed by Tidec, some of which relate to island localities in the developing world.

TTS - TTS supply a good range of primary geography resources, including Katie Morag materials, maps, atlases, globes, packs and playmats many of which are well matched to primary needs.

Wildgoose - Wildgoose publish and distribute playmats and a range of materials about the Isle of Coll, as well as aerial photograph resources specially tailored to the needs of individual schools.

This Looking At Pictures activity provided by the Becta Direct2U service develops skills in the context of 'An Island Home'.

A large variety of animals are covered from around the world and these can support a variety of units in Superschemes. The example given is the ABC of camels where children can find out all there is to know about camels! The hump in fact does not store water contrary to popular belief but fat which it uses when it needs some extra energy.
