This book, with an accompanying CD-Rom of resources, contains a substantial section on Coasts with background information, teaching ideas and classroom activities.

Knapp, Brian (2002) Curriculum Visions: The Coast Book
Atlantic Europe Publishing Co Ltd (ISBN: 1862140898)
Designed specifically to tie in with Unit 23, 'Investigating Coasts', in the QCA primary scheme of work, this teacher’s book introduces the basic concepts of physical and human coastal geography using colour images and diagrams. There is also a supporting website which provides additional content.

Richardson, T. (2004) Barnaby Bear’s Atlas for KS1
BBC Worldwide
This atlas looks at variety of places in the world, including the places he visits in the Barnaby Bear books published by the Geographical Association.

  • Bowden D, and Copeland, P. (2004) Technically geography: lessons combining geography and ICT for Y3/4 - This is a pack integrating the QCA Schemes of work in both geography and ICT at Primary level. It focuses on 4 Schemes and comprises 20 lessons linked to the use of ICT
  • Catling, S. (2002) Placing Places (third edition) - Lots of fun and stimulating ways to help children learn where places are located in the world. Over 250 teaching activities ranging from instant questions to enquiry based projects.
  • De Boo, M. (ed) (2004) The Early Years Handbook - This is well illustrated guide for all Foundation practitioners, presenting a holistic view of the curriculum at this stage but ensuring that geography takes up its rightful place as part of the rich learning experience for this age group.
  • May, S. (ed) (2000) High-Tech Geography and ICT in the Primary
    School
    - A collection of papers written in a practical helpful way to inspire and give confidence to you and your colleagues in developing ICT in your geography programmes.
  • Richardson, T. (2002) Copy Write Y5/6 - Activities linked to a range of topics in geography, all are photocopiable and most are linked to developing independent learning using the world around rather than textbook resources
  • Richardson, P. and Till, E. (2005) SuperSchemes - This is a helpful primary resource, flowing from, and developing the established QCA Schemes of Work. It is made up of a series of 26 booklets, each with a CD-Rom and a portal to additional material on the GA website.
  • Scoffham, S. (ed) (2004) Primary Geography Handbook - The new handbook for primary teachers, rich in ideas, broad in examples and committed to helping both subject leader and primary teachers to deliver excellent geography teaching.
