Investigating coasts with Year 5 pupils
In this unit of work, pupils were introduced to the Lincolnshire coastal town Skegness. Through field visits and classroom activities, the pupils learned about coastal environments, erosion and sea defences. They also learned about life in a contrasting locality, tourism, human and physical processes and map skills.

Understanding the local area
Find out how students at St Peter's Smithills Dean CE Primary School in Bolton got to know their local area better by going on a field trip, talking to historians, drawing maps and creating a huge 3D model of Barrow Bridge.
