The Primary Geography Champions are a group of enthusiastic and passionate geographers recruited as part of the Action Plan for Geography to work with and support primary teachers around the country. More than 2000 teachers have engaged with the project and it has left a legacy of lasting networks.
To date we have an impressive list of 50 Champions around the country including the latest appointments made in 2011. Our Champions are a mix of (mostly) teachers, educators in ITE and LA and independent advisors.
They also include the well known author Anita Ganeri who wrote the Horrible Geography series of books and the explorer and author Alastair Humphreys - you can read an interview with Alastair in the Autumn 2010 issue of Primary Geography. We are also lucky to have recruited Professor Iain Stewart as an honorary Primary Geography Champion. All of them are enthusiastic, knowledgeable and confident geographers of course!
