Beyond critical - some spaces of optimism in a globalised world Monday 8 December, starts 5:30pm Students' Union Auditorium, University of Sheffield Professor Doreen Massey from the Open University will give the final lecture in the Department of Geography's centenary lecture series. SSAT Lead Practitioner Seminar: Independent Learning in Geography and Integrated Humanities Friday 12 December 2008, 9:00 - 16:15 Knutsford High School, Cheshire The day is designed to help produce Independent Learners in the Humanities through the development of personal, learning and thinking skills (PLTS). The day includes Year 7 and 8 'Showcase' presentations on 'Independent Learning' and a choice of two workshops covering 'Learning in Humanities'. Teaching Outside the Classroom: A Teacher Workshop for Primary and Secondary Teachers Tuesday 20 January, 6:30pm Geography Committee Room, The Cohen Building, University of Hull A variety of short workshops on key aspects of fieldwork suitable for all teachers across the key stages.
