10:45-14:30 - Transforming Liverpool City Centre Field Visit - All KS Dr Janet Speake, Senior Lecturer in Geography, Liverpool Hope University and Rob Morris, Geography Teacher, Shrewsbury School Catalysed in part by its role as European Capital of Culture 2008, Liverpool city centre has recently experienced remarkable change. During this trail we will visit a number of locations including the Pier Head, Liverpool One and Ropewalks which encapsulate Liverpool's current transformation and re-imaging. This Field Visit is partly subsided by a legacy from the late Professor William Balchin. Price: £5 including FREE copy of Discovering Cities: Liverpool.

12:30-16:00 - Evaluating Change in Manchester City Centre (CMDC, the IRA bomb and this decade) Field Visit - All KS Professor Michael Bradford, Professor of Geography, University of Manchester An escorted circular walking tour of the city centre, taking in Central Manchester Development Corporation (1988-96), reconstruction after the IRA bomb (1996), and recent developments in Spinneyfields, the Northern Quarter, Ancoats and New Islington. Participants (trios) will evaluate the regeneration and decide accommodation for two types of city centre dwellers. This Field Visit is partly subsided by a legacy from the late Professor William Balchin. Price: £5

17:45-19:30 – Awards Presentations and Wine Reception
The presentations, concluding with a complimentary wine reception, will include the long-standing GA Awards, recognising materials which make a significant contribution to school geography, the Frederick Soddy Awards, supporting school fieldwork and expeditions and also the GA will be recognising achievements of individuals who have made outstanding contributions to geography training.
