Linking Environmental Education Activities to the National Curriculum Tuesday 2 September Skelton Grange Environment Centre, Leeds This event will introduce you to the National Curriculum, including taking a look at Education for Sustainable Development and Sustainable Schools. Aimed at environmental educators and others who are beginning to work with schools, it aims to demystify the curriculum and its terminology and to introduce some new and creative ways of working with it. Introducing Environmental Games and Activities Wednesday 3 September Skelton Grange Environment Centre, Leeds Developed and offered in response to repeat demand, this event will provide an introduction to a range of activities and games suitable for Foundation stage and Key Stages 1 and 2. With the emphasis on doing and playing, the course will look at games to achieve a variety of different outcomes and atmospheres, and how to blend activities together to ensure coherence and to help children get the most out of their experience. This event is suitable for those who are beginning to work with 3 to 11 year olds in an outdoor setting and who want to introduce games and hands-on activities as a way of bringing the environment alive. The British Cartographic Society Annual Symposium Mapping 2008: Making the Most of Maps Wednesday 3 - Saturday 6 September Harben House, Newport Pagnell The conference programme features an impressive line up of industry experts who will give presentations on a diverse range of map related topics including representatives from the Royal Geographical Society, City University, Pitney Bowes MapInfo and the government's Communities and Local Government. Archaeology and Education conference 2008 Friday 5 - Sunday 7 September 2008 St. John University, York.
