Post-16 National Conference
Recruitment, Retention, Results – meeting A-level targets with inspiring geography
Welcome to the GA's first national conference for A-level geography teachers.
This conference will discuss ways to enhance A-level teaching and learning through two major themes: rivers, floods and management and the impact of urban change. The workshops will include ideas for fieldwork and the use of ICT, and how to prepare students for the fieldwork examination questions.
London - Tuesday 22 June 2010
About the Conference
As geography teachers we seek to inspire young people to think geographically and to ignite their curiosity about the world. We are also required to meet the expectations of students, their parents, and senior managers to achieve sometimes challenging targets.
Inspiring teaching and learning engages and retains students, and enhanced results attract new ones.
All conference delegates will take away ideas and materials to use in class, receive a certificate of attendance and, if you use the ideas from the conference at your centre, you will be eligible to receive a certificate recognising Professional Development. This can help you work towards national recognition for your curriculum development through the Teacher Learning Academy.
Aims and Outcomes
The Post-16 National Conference aims to provide:
- Up-to-date information on river management and urban change
- Exciting ways to enhance fieldwork in urban areas and on river management
- Suggestions of how students can respond effectively to fieldwork questions
Presenters
Session leaders will include A-level practitioners and experts from higher education. Full details will be confirmed here soon.
