Our Mission
The Geographical Association is a highly active educational charity operating to its declared mission:
'To further the teaching of geography and the value of learning geography for all'.
Our Strategic Plan for the period 2003-06 which is designed to enact our Strategic Aims:
- To increase the effectiveness of the GA in relation to its purpose and mission;
- To secure the financial health of the Association;
- To communicate and maximise the benefits of membership.
|
The Strategic Plan outlines key objectives to specify ways in which these aims may be achieved:
- To articulate and tirelessly demonstrate the role of geography in education and its educational potential.
- To strengthen the local, regional and national communication flows of the Association.
- To develop membership benefits through access to the website, publications, journals and conferences.
- To obtain funding for and to manage a range of significant research and development projects.
- Judiciously to build new partnerships, including international links, and to strengthen existing ones.
Roger Carter (a Past President of the GA) has produced an abridged version of our Strategic Plan. In September 2003 this was sent to all primary and secondary schools and colleges in the UK. You can download a pdf of the abridged version by clicking on the cover on the right.
