Writing for the GA
Interested in writing for the GA? Some information about our publications policy may help.
The principal goal of all our publications is to promote lively and challenging geography at all levels. Our overall goal incorporates the following aims:
- To support the membership professionally
- To serve the interests of geography teachers in general
- To further the development of geography education
- To communicate the value and purpose of geography in education to a wide audience
- To support scholarly activity in the field of education
|
|
To achieve these aims we produce three journals, handbooks for each phase of education and shorter books that support particular aspects of professional practice, and packs and other resources to support classroom teaching. We also make teaching and learning materials available via this website.
Do not be deterred if you have not written before. We have some jargon-free tips on writing articles for Primary Geographer and Teaching Geography for you to download. Information on writing for each of the journals can be downloaded below.
- Primary Geographer – for early years and key stage 1 and 2 teachers
- Teaching Geography – for teachers in secondary schools and colleges
- Geography – an international journal of geography for use from post-16 to higher education
- A copy of the GA House Style guidelines can be downloaded here
- Linked and standalone materials for publication on this website are also welcome.
If you would prefer to go for something bigger and are considering writing a book or resource pack, you are welcome to submit publications proposals. For detailed information please contact Fran Royle, Publications Manager.
