Geographies of Globalisation
Tuesday 30 September 2008, 7:30pm
King Edward VI, Stourbridge
A lecture by Professor James Sidaway
Globalisation is a contested concept. In other words, it means a wide variety of things to different people and there is no consensus about its advantages and disadvantages. This talk considers a range of geographies (economic, political and cultural) associated with globalisation and asks what a geographical perspective offers in term of critical understandings?

Flooding

The session will provide students with invaluable information to use in their course and coursework.

A Climate of Change
Monday 4 February 2008, 7:30pm
King Edward VI, Stourbridge
A lecture by Malcolm Walker
In this talk, Malcolm explained the causes of global warming and associated climate change and then focused on the drastic measures that need to be taken if we are to stand any chance of averting climatic disaster.

Regeneration in Birmingham
Tuesday 4 March 2008, 7:30pm
King Edward VI, Stourbridge
A lecture by Tim Hall
Birmingham represents one of the most striking examples of urban regeneration and re-imaging in the UK. It was a pioneer city that took proactive and radical courses of action to address the considerable problems left by deindustrialisation. In the last 20 years Birmingham has sought to transform its economy, the landscape of its city centre and its image through a series of bold regeneration initiatives. This talk explored these initiatives and their impacts since the opening of the International Convention Centre Birmingham in 1991.
